Why I Still Believe The Book of Proverbs Should Be Read Every Day
Last month, I read a chapter a day and it forced me to ask hard questions of myself
I try to read my Bible every day.
I’m not perfect by any means. But I work at it pretty hard. Sometimes, it is easy to put a streak of days together; sometimes, life gets in the way, and it doesn’t happen.
It really isn’t about the amount of Bible reading you do. It’s about connecting with God and experiencing Jesus.
Yet, when we read the Book of Proverbs, I find myself digging into the things of life. There are so many verses with a practical applications that I cannot help but learn something new every time I read Proverbs.
And still, I find myself connecting with the hard questions of life.
Am I living a life of the righteous or the wicked?
Do I have a healthy fear of the Lord?
Is (enter whatever condition is found) true of my life?
I understand that we live on this side of the New Covenant with Jesus and are made righteous in our belief in him. But, I believe it is essential to ask the hard questions when it comes to living rightly and poorly.
If we lose sight of these things, we may find ourselves living hypocritical lives or, at minimum, missing out on everything God has for us.
The Challenge
So, I want to challenge you with this short post today to consider reading the book of Proverbs for the next 31 days. That is one chapter a day.
And maybe, pick a specific topic to look out for family, parenting, marriage, money, relationships, health, etc.
If you are up for it, leave a yes in the comments, and I’d love to hear how it goes!
