The other morning while my family and I were spending the weekend with my parents at a lake near our home, I got up early and sat on the deck to work on my book.
Except, I didn’t do any work. I sat there and talked to God about some things while looking at the beautiful scenery. I must have drifted off to sleep as I shared my soul with God.
While I slept on the deck in the cool morning air, I had a vision or dream about Christian Writers. More specifically, Christian Writers are writing on Medium.
“I imagined seeing thousands of Christian creators connecting and unified on this platform.”
As I drifted in and out of this odd dream-like state, I imagined seeing thousands of Christian creators connecting and unified on this platform. Sharing each other’s content, supporting each other’s content, and lifting the name of Jesus.
When I awoke, I started to think more about this. I had an idea a while back when I wrote my story, “I Wish There Were More Christians On Medium.”
And while that article has had a lot of people connecting with it, I still wasn’t sure how exactly we would all come together. Well, not until now.
Inviting Christian Writers
There are probably hundreds of Medium Writing Groups on Facebook. You probably belong to at least three of them. I know I am in at least five or six. But today, I want to add one more.
But this one will be a little different.
This is for you, the Christian Writer. I have been digging into my dream a bit more and decided to help promote and connect more Christian creators.
While I am not convinced that algorithms on platforms are trying to keep Christian faith from showing up, I think it is hard to find each other consistently for whatever reason.
So, I have decided to start the Christian Medium Writers Facebook Group.
Vision for this Christian Medium Writers Group
My vision for this group is to create space to share uplifting content to encourage other Christians and connect with people who might be interested in the Christian faith.
I am not looking to create a group full of content about faith deconstruction articles (though I do think it’s okay to have doubts and questions).
I am not looking for content on political commentary (though I believe we should be active in this area).
And we are not looking for judgment of people groups (though I understand that there will be differences in values and beliefs from other groups within our culture).
This group is meant to be a church of believers online. It is meant to be where we love and respect our digital neighbors. Most of all, I want to connect Christians to see God’s Kingdom move online.
Christian Medium Writers Group Goals
While the group will be a work in progress, there are some goals behind the group that I want to share with you:
Connect Christian creators who are on Medium
Daily Share Posts to read, support, and share content
Weekend Share Post for books, products, and services
Ask Questions and get help with the platform
Connect on other platforms as well
Private Group, Every Member Reviewed
Now, here’s the thing about the group. It is a private group, and we will review everyone who wants to join. Here are a few things you should know:
We will review your Medium profile to ensure your content aligns with our vision for the group.
We are looking for a confession of faith.
And we want to know your goals for joining the group.
I am hesitant to create this group, to be honest. I know there will be situations that could arise where we do not agree with an ideology, theology, or cultural opinion.
While I want to be as inclusive as possible, I will honestly be prayerfully considering every member of the group and want to make sure we can ultimately promote the vision and goal of the group.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly via Twitter DM.
