A Call to Prayer and Fasting for Israel
We must unite in prayer and fasting after what has happened in Israel
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! — Psalm 122:6
My heart breaks for Israel. For the families of those who have lost children, grandchildren, parents, and grandparents, there is a hole in their hearts this week that cannot be filled.
You can Google the details, but the Hamas have killed infants, children, parents, and the elderly in their attack from the other day.Â
While I understand the situation between Palestine, Hamas, and Israel is complicated, there is nothing to condone the ruthlessness and barbaric nature of how the Hamas attacked civilian targets.
Today, I cannot help but join the call for prayer and fasting for Israel. And I want to encourage you to pray daily for the people and fast different things over the next week. Here are some details to pray for:
Pray for Peace. Even though terrible things have happened there, additional conflict and attacks will breed more loss of life and destruction.
Pray for Comfort. Pray for the families of those who have lost loved ones, whose loved ones have been taken hostage, and for the people of Israel as they cope with the attack and what has happened.
Pray for Wisdom. The leaders of Israel, the surrounding nations, and the nations of the world need wisdom to handle this war of peoples. Pray for the wisdom of de-escalation over the area.
Pray for Souls. Ask God to move in the lives of the people of Israel, the Hamas, and the Palestinians who are now involved in this war. Pray for dreams of Jesus and angelic visitations to bring people closer to God.
Pray for Protection. Pray for the civilians in the path of the firefights, rockets, and war between the Hamas and Israel. Pray for people to get out of these areas safely and find safety.
Pray for Unity. Pray that this would break division worldwide and in the Middle East. Ask God to unify people toward the good of other people and not toward war or death.
Pray for Peace for the Israeli People. There have been countless atrocities brought down on Israel for thousands of years. Pray that peace would finally fall on Jerusalem and spread worldwide.
On top of praying these things for the next seven days, I want to encourage you to fast for Israel and the world. Fasting doesn’t have to be complicated or completely lacking.
Find something that you might consume every day. Maybe it’s coffee or soda or meat or something like that. Fast these things for the next seven days and spend the times you might consume them in prayer for Israel.
I believe there is a breakthrough power in prayer and fasting and that it can impact these areas in supernatural ways. Will it heal all wounds of generations past? Not likely, but it can move the hand of God toward good things for Israel and the world.

I haven't stopped praying. Where two or more are gathered there is power. God and His angel army are doing things in the spirit realm that we don't know about. Israel will never be defeated. The bible tells us so. :)
