30 Days of Prayer & Mediation to Grow in Your Relationship with God
30 Scriptures to pray through in October
“Do you want to have a relationship with God?”
That was the question some other college student asked me on the mall of our college campus. I didn’t really know what he meant at the time. To me, you didn’t have a relationship with God. God was just there and he was doing whatever he was going to do.
With this viewpoint, I responded, “Maybe later,” and I kept on walking while he tried to convince me to stop and talk about God.
Almost a year later, I thought I would give God a chance. Walking into a Bible study for fraternity and sorority students, I was reintroduced to this idea that God wants to have a relationship with me.
The Bible study changed my way of thinking. And then, a week later, I met with the leader of the Bible study where I learned what it meant to have a relationship with God.
What does it mean to have a relationship with God?
A relationship with God is simply being in relationship with God. We come into that relationship by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior and believing that what Jesus did on the cross and that he rose again does in fact give us salvation and adoption into God’s Kingdom.
But, over time, our relationship with God becomes more. It isn’s so unusual or hypothetical. It becomes a life source to our everyday life. It opens us up to new and amazing things. And most of all, it draws us deeper into what God’s Kingdom is all about and who God is.
